Metal Welding System
The car body structure (Body-In-White or “BIW”) is primarily made of stamped sheetmetal panels that are primarily welded together to complete the assembly. Welding is key for making the BIW, and it is the main technical process of car body manufacturing due to the low carbon steel used and its inherent welding characteristics.
BIW is a complicated structure requiring many bonding technologies including: welding, rivet bonding, mechanical fasteners and adhesives. Welding is the most widely-used bonding process due to the low carbon steel used and its inherent welding characteristics.
